Laura Calhoun

Laura Calhoun is the President of the Governing Board, on which she has served since 2007. She is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Restored Life Church located in Southeast Colorado Springs. Laura is also the Founder and President of the Restored Life Family Resource Center, a community outreach ministry focused on bringing healing, health, wholeness and restoration to individuals and families. 

Laura brings to the board over 25 years of customer service experience, 13 years of administration experience and over 13 years’ experience developing and training Leaders.   Laura has a passion for helping young people with their life and educational goals.  She has helped numerous students at Colorado Springs Early Colleges (CSEC) achieve academic success.  She has a daughter, a son, and a brother who graduated from CSEC, one with an Associate’s Degree, one with a certificate in Culinary Arts and one with college credits.  

Laura was a Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) Chaplain for 10 years and now continues to volunteer with the CSPD in the Community Relations Unit.  Laura is a native New Yorker but has traveled many places for over 20 years as a military wife.  Laura and her husband now call Colorado home since he retired after serving 20 years in the U.S. Army.

Thomas Clark

Tom is Vice President of the Governing Board with a term expiration date of June 2018.  Mr. Clark has been employed by Elk Creek Technology Partners for 8 years, currently serving as the CEO/CTO.  Prior to working at Elk Creek Technology Partners, Mr. Clark worked as Director of Engineering Support Services at NeoCore Inc., ITXC Inc. and Voxware Inc. which were high technology startup companies.    He has also worked as a Software Quality Assurance Manager and Engineer at Symantec and Central Point Software.  Previously he spent 10 years at Tektronix Inc. working as a Software Quality Assurance Engineer, Staff Engineer and Electronics Technician.  Mr. Clark started his career serving as an Electronic Technician in the U.S. Navy. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Art Cyphers

Art has served on the CEC Governing Board for three years and is the Board Treasurer.  His term expires in June 2018.  He is a retired businessman with nearly 30 years of experience in the plastic films industry.  He hired, mentored, developed, and managed field sales people across the middle of the USA.  Their efforts were instrumental to the growth of a new company from less than $6 million to more than $300 million in less than 20 years.   He retired from plastics and joined a Christian financial services organization.  Their mission included visiting clients who requested preparation of legal documents to award part of their final estate to their favorite ministries.    Art is a retired Navy Flight Officer and served 23 years on active duty and in the Navy Reserve.  His years of travel for business, Navy, and ministry to more than 40 countries  gives him a broad world-view and sensitivity to other cultures.  Business was his ministry field, and it provided a great time for learning practical lessons in stewardship and personal relations.  He is a graduate of the University of Delaware with a degree in Biological Sciences and Chemistry.  His science education and post-graduate business courses prepared him well for his business career. He lived in Naperville, IL for 29 years before moving to Colorado Springs in 2006 with his wife Susan.

Terrence McDonald

Terry has served on the Governing Board for two years with a term expiration date of May 2018.  He is currently the representative on the Corporation Board for CEC-Douglas County. Terry is an independent contact center and telecommunications consultant helping service companies improve their customer experience while lowering costs.  Prior, Terry was a successful sales executive for Oracle and Genesys. Terry is a supporter of FIRST and BEST robotics, helping mentor independent Team Komodo based in Louviers.

Robin Phillips

Robin is the Secretary of the Governing Board. She is the newest addition to the Governing Board, works part-time as both a licensed teaching sub, and as a technical writer. As the mom of three very active children, two of whom are CECFC students, Robin has enjoyed serving as a CEC parent volunteer -- assisting with CEC field trips, helping in Band and Choir ensembles, and helping with teacher appreciation luncheons.   Robin also enjoys coordinating the many extra curricular activities her family is involved in including a variety of athletics, music and language arts.  She enjoys her role as a mom very much, and is passionate about seeing CEC schools continue to grow and thrive!  Robin brings over 15 years of writing and communications experience to the governing board, and is a graduate of Colorado State University, with a degree in Journalism and Technical Communications  -- with a concentration in Public Relations.  She also served for 6 years in the Colorado Air National Guard, stationed at the 137th Space Warning Squadron in Greeley, Colo.  Along with her husband, Robin helps operate Phillips Technology Solutions, LLC, and has taught both piano and Spanish lessons in the Fort Collins area.  As Colorado natives, Robin and her husband enjoy camping and fishing in the great outdoors, and living life on their family farm.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

 

John Lovell

John has served on the Corporation Board for 2 years with a term expiration date of May 2018.  He represents CEC-Fort Collins on the Corporation Board and is elected to serve until 2018.  Mr. Lovell has over 33 years of experience in agricultural, small business, and real estate lending.  He is currently the manager of the Home Equity Department/Business Relationship Officer and Vice President of First National Bank in Fort Collins, Colorado.  He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Colorado State University-Fort Collins.

Jadie Hager

Jadie is new to the CEC governing board this year. She has a son who graduated from CECFC with an Associates Degree and one nearing graduation with an AA in 2018. Jadie also has a third son at CECFC Junior High and a daughter who will start at CECFC Junior High next year. She is the Owner of The Hager Group Insurance and sits on the corporate council of the Affordable American Insurance network representing the interests of over 100 insurance agencies across Colorado, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. Jadie has served on the board of the Women’s Council of Realtors and the Affiliate Board of the Fort Collins Board of Realtors. Jadie travels frequently to speak at women’s leadership events around the country.

Mitch Trevey

Mitch Trevey joined the CEC Board to represent the Parker campus. He is a resident of Parker, Colorado and the Managing Director of Trevey Land and Commercial, a commercial real estate brokerage firm based in Parker. With 20 plus years of experience in land and commercial brokerage and development, Mitch leads a team of 10 great brokers and highly committed support staff.  Mitch has been married to his wife Amy since 2003 and shares the joys of parenting two sons, which are both enrolled at Parker Core Knowledge Charter School and both competing in the USTA tennis league. He has served as President of the Parker Chamber of Commerce and as Director of the Parker Economic Development Council. He also serves on the Operating Council for Parker Core Knowledge. He maintains a strong commitment to the community through participating and volunteering as time permits.

Hobbies aren’t really a part of what Mitch does, but he enjoys spending any time he can with his family, skiing and mountain biking. Of particular interest are construction projects, building and maintaining anything, and sports cars with great horsepower. Sleep is optional, but coffee is not.
