Governing Board Members

Deborah Hendrix
Deborah has served on the Governing Board for eight years with a term expiration of May 2016.  She is currently the President of Colorado Early Colleges.  She is a former board member of Harrison School District 2.  Deborah has a commitment to education and knows that all students can learn if provided an environment where the teachers are focused on student academic achievement. She has supported educational choice; one of her two daughters graduated from Colorado Springs Early Colleges and the other attended James Irwin Charter School.  Deborah currently has a daughter graduating from Harrison High School. She has her own consulting and training firm, CD Global Enterprises, and has been an executive with Junior Achievement.  Deborah also does training for Dale Carnegie. She has experience working in the area of leadership and career development, diversity management, and board development.  Deborah has trained thousands of employees in the areas of people management, customer service, onboarding, meeting and project management, and a host of other topics. She has managed both people and financial resources.
Thomas Clark

Tom is Vice President  of the Governing Board with a term expiration date of June 2016.  Mr. Clark has been employed by Elk Creek Technology Partners for 8 years, currently serving as the CEO/CTO.  Prior to working at Elk Creek Technology Partners, Mr. Clark worked as Director of Engineering Support Services at NeoCore Inc., ITXC Inc. and Voxware Inc. which were high technology startup companies.    He has also worked as a Software Quality Assurance Manager and Engineer at Symantec and Central Point Software.  Previously he spent 10 years at Tektronix Inc. working as a Software Quality Assurance Engineer, Staff Engineer and Electronics Technician.  Mr. Clark started his career serving as an Electronic Technician in the U.S. Navy. 



Laura Calhoun

Laura is the Secretary of the Governing Board on which she has served 7+ years.  Her term expires in May 2018.  She is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Restored Life Church. She is also the Founder and President of the Restored Life Family Resource Center (RLFRC) which is a community outreach ministry to bring healing, health and wholeness to individuals and families.  Laura has a passion for helping young people with their life and educational  goals.  She has helped numerous students at Colorado Springs Early Colleges (CSEC) achieve academic success. Both her daughter and son graduated from CSEC, one with an Associates Degree and one with college credits.  Laura is a volunteer Chaplain with the Colorado Springs Police Department and currently serves on the Board of The Women’s Gospel Home, a resident program helping woman overcome addictions.  Laura is currently finishing her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology (Criminology) with a minor in Psychology at Colorado State University Pueblo.

Art Cyphers

Art has served on the Governing Board for three years with a term expiration date of June 2018 and is currently the Treasurer.  He is a retired Naval Flight Officer, having served 23 years on active duty and in the Naval Reserve.  Mr. Cyphers brings more than 25 years of business experience to the practice of Biblical stewardship.  During that time, he hired, developed, mentored, and managed field sales people.  He is a graduate of the University of Delaware with a degree in Biological Sciences and Chemistry.



Chandi Springer
Chandi serves on the Governing Board with a term expiration date of May 2017.  She currently is the Owner and Chief Executive Officer for both Once Upon a Child and Clothes Mentor in Fort Collins. She is also the property manager of commercial investment property, Springer Plaza. Chandi has found the individual responsibility of being a multiple business owner challenging and rewarding. She is enjoying running thriving businesses and is proud of the difference the businesses make in the lives of her management, sales staff, and the community. She employs over 40 management and staff members in the Fort Collins area between the two retail operations. Chandi graduated from New Caney High School near Houston and attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas to become an educator. She graduated from college with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography with a minor in English and passed the Texas Secondary Certification examination and became licensed to teach. She was hired by the Bryan, Texas school district and taught 9th grade students at the high school in 1991. She is a representative from Colorado Early Colleges - Fort Collins on the Governing Board.
Terrence McDonald

Terry has served on the Governing Board for two years with a term expiration date of May 2017.  He is currently the representative on the Corporation Board for CEC-Douglas County.  He works at Interactive Intelligence in software sales.  His prior experience includes employment as an information technology managing consultant.





John Lovell

John has served on the Corporation Board for 2 years with a term expiration date of May 2017.  He represents CEC-Fort Collins on the Corporation Board and is elected to serve until 2018.  Mr. Lovell has over 33 years of experience in agricultural, small business, and real estate lending.  He is currently the manager of the Home Equity Department/Business Relationship Officer and Vice President of First National Bank in Fort Collins, Colorado.  He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Colorado State University-Fort Collins.
