Governing Board Members

 

Deborah Hendrix

Deborah has served on the Governing Board
since the school was opened ten years ago.  She is currently the President of Colorado Early Colleges.  She is a former board President and member of Harrison School District 2 school board.  Deborah has a commitment to education and knows that all students can learn if provided an environment where the teachers are focused on student academic achievement. She has supported educational choice and her children have attended public and charter schools; one of her two daughters graduated from Colorado Springs Early Colleges and is a coordinator at Parents Challenge and the other graduated from Harrison High School and currently attends Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA. Deborah is the Executive Director of Parents Challenge, a non-profit that supports educational choice for parents, whether they choose private, public, charter or homeschool.  She has her own consulting and training firm, CD Global Enterprises, and was an executive with Junior Achievement for 20 years.  Deborah has been a certified instructor for Dale Carnegie for 18 years. She has experience working in the area of leadership and career development, diversity management, and board development.  Deborah has trained thousands of employees in the areas of people management, customer service, on-boarding, meeting and project management, and a host of other topics. She has managed both people and financial resources.

 

 

 
Thomas Clark

Tom is Vice President of the Governing Board with a term expiration date of June 2018.  Mr. Clark has been employed by Elk Creek Technology Partners for 8 years, currently serving as the CEO/CTO.  Prior to working at Elk Creek Technology Partners, Mr. Clark worked as Director of Engineering Support Services at NeoCore Inc., ITXC Inc. and Voxware Inc. which were high technology startup companies.    He has also worked as a Software Quality Assurance Manager and Engineer at Symantec and Central Point Software.  Previously he spent 10 years at Tektronix Inc. working as a Software Quality Assurance Engineer, Staff Engineer and Electronics Technician.  Mr. Clark started his career serving as an Electronic Technician in the U.S. Navy. 

 

 

Laura Calhoun

Laura is the Secretary of the Governing Board on which she has served 7+ years.  Her term expires in May 2018.  She is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Restored Life Church. She is also the Founder and President of the Restored Life Family Resource Center (RLFRC) which is a community outreach ministry to bring healing, health and wholeness to individuals and families.  Laura has a passion for helping young people with their life and educational  goals.  She has helped numerous students at Colorado Springs Early Colleges (CSEC) achieve academic success. Both her daughter and son graduated from CSEC, one with an Associates Degree and one with college credits.  Laura is a volunteer Chaplain with the Colorado Springs Police Department and currently serves on the Board of The Women’s Gospel Home, a resident program helping woman overcome addictions.  Laura is currently finishing her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology (Criminology) with a minor in Psychology at Colorado State University Pueblo.

 
 
 
Art Cyphers

Art has served on the CEC Governing Board for three years and is the Board Treasurer.  His term expires in June 2018.  He is a retired businessman with nearly 30 years of experience in the plastic films industry.  He hired, mentored, developed, and managed field sales people across the middle of the USA.  Their efforts were instrumental to the growth of a new company from less than $6 million to more than $300 million in less than 20 years.   He retired from plastics and joined a Christian financial services organization.  Their mission included visiting clients who requested preparation of legal documents to award part of their final estate to their favorite ministries.    Art is a retired Navy Flight Officer and served 23 years on active duty and in the Navy Reserve.  His years of travel for business, Navy, and ministry to more than 40 countries  gives him a broad world-view and sensitivity to other cultures.  Business was his ministry field, and it provided a great time for learning practical lessons in stewardship and personal relations.  He is a graduate of the University of Delaware with a degree in Biological Sciences and Chemistry.  His science education and post-graduate business courses prepared him well for his business career. He lived in Naperville, IL for 29 years before moving to Colorado Springs in 2006 with his wife Susan.

Terrence McDonald

Terry has served on the Governing Board for two years with a term expiration date of May 2017.  He is currently the representative on the Corporation Board for CEC-Douglas County. Terry is an independent contact center and telecommunications consultant helping service companies improve their customer experience while lowering costs.  Prior, Terry was a successful sales executive for Oracle and Genesys. Terry is a supporter of FIRST and BEST robotics, helping mentor independent Team Komodo based in Louviers.

 

 

 

 

John Lovell

John has served on the Corporation Board for 2 years with a term expiration date of May 2017.  He represents CEC-Fort Collins on the Corporation Board and is elected to serve until 2018.  Mr. Lovell has over 33 years of experience in agricultural, small business, and real estate lending.  He is currently the manager of the Home Equity Department/Business Relationship Officer and Vice President of First National Bank in Fort Collins, Colorado.  He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Colorado State University-Fort Collins.

Robin, the newest addition to the Governing Board, works part-time as both a licensed teaching sub, and as a technical writer.    As the mom of three very active children, two of whom are CECFC students, Robin has enjoyed serving as a CEC parent volunteer -- assisting with CEC field trips, helping in Band and Choir ensembles, and helping with teacher appreciation luncheons.   Robin also enjoys coordinating the many extra curricular activities her family is involved in including a variety of athletics, music and language arts.  She enjoys her role as a mom very much, and is passionate about seeing CEC schools continue to grow and thrive!  Robin brings over 15 years of writing and communications experience to the governing board, and is a graduate of Colorado State University, with a degree in Journalism and Technical Communications  -- with a concentration in Public Relations.  She also served for 6 years in the Colorado Air National Guard, stationed at the 137th Space Warning Squadron in Greeley, Colo.  Along with her husband, Robin helps operate Phillips Technology Solutions, LLC, and has taught both piano and Spanish lessons in the Fort Collins area.  As Colorado natives, Robin and her husband enjoy camping and fishing in the great outdoors, and living life on their family farm.
